.The continental United State has been devastated by nuclear blasts. The metal from skyscrapers twisted and turned into scrap. The glass from buildings, shattered and cover the streets. Smoke steaming from the ground and water bursting from the pipes splash a lonely willow tree as to baptizing it. The people that are left have a numb stare and emotionless tears. A mother hugs her dead children and prays to not take them away from her. A relative tries to pull her away and tells her"There nothing to do."She refuses to face the reality and clings even harder to the lifeless bodies, kissing their peeling, melted faces. As the mother holds her rosary tightly she repeats the Hail Mary. As the sun rises a young girl climbs out of her shelter. She overwhelmed with stress and anxiety but she has this special gift in situations like this. When she overwhelmed music plays in her head and a particular song by Schubert called Ave Maria repeats in her consciousness, As the world around her is in chaos, she is calm and tranquil. In-between the concrete and rubble, she notices an ocean blue butterfly dancing near a rose. She then clears the ruble and sits on the ground to enjoy nature and its creatures. She thinks of many things have been taken from her and many others, but she has her special gift of music, hope, and a new beginning.
